New Paper Published: Non-equilibrium flow simulations based on Grad-14 and Grad-17 moment equations for polytropic gases

We present the non-equilibrium flow simulations based on Grad-14 and Grad-17 moment equations for polytropic gases Computational simulations are performed using the Trixi.jl. Numerical simulations validated by DSMC and experimental data confirm robustness for high-speed non-equilibrium flow applications. Higher-order moment models become essential as Knudsen number increases. Grad-17 model outperforms Euler and Navier–Stokes–Fourier models in predicting non-equilibrium effects.
